Vatukarasa

A Fijian martini that has become a classic, this pineapple martini is as vibrant and inviting as the islands themselves. Named after the picturesque village of Vatukarasa on Fiji’s coral coast, where the first pineapple that inspired this cocktail was grown. The drink is a tropical masterpiece that will take you to Fiji wherever you are.

This cocktail combines the tropical botanical notes of Blue Turtle Gin, fresh pineapple, and vermouth, creating a balanced and sophisticated quintessential Fijian martini.

You'll Need

  • 60ml Blue Turtle Gin
  • 60ml fresh pineapple juice
  • 15ml dry vermouth
  • 15ml fresh lime juice
  • Dehydrated lime wheel – suggested garnish, but you can also use a fresh lime wheel or a pineapple wedge
  • Good solid ice 

Tools

  • Jigger 
  • Shaker (or a jar if you don’t have a shaker)
  • Strainer
  • Martini glass

Putting It Together

Chill your glass in the fridge beforehand.

Add a generous amount of solid ice to the shaker or jar.

Add your ingredients from inexpensive to most, where if you make a mistake, you can start over without wasting too much. So start in this order: fresh lime juice, fresh pineapple juice, dry vermouth, and Blue Turtle Gin.

Tip: using fresher ingredients produces a better outcome.

Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.

Strain into your chilled Martini glass and add your preferred garnish. We suggest dehydrated lime – the scent of the lime enhances the taste of our Vatukarasa.
